Buddha Jumps Over the Wall

Buddha Jumps Over the Wall is based on a luxurious Chinese meat dish of the same name, which is supposedly so fragrant and aromatic that a vegetarian Buddhist monk would jump the wall of his monastery just to try it. The most popular story behind the dish tells the tale of a group of traveling scholars who were wandering around the Fujian province in southeast China. One of the scholars brought their food in a jar, and was heating it up over a fire. The smell of the food cooking wafted over a nearby monastery, and the irresistible aroma persuaded a monk into leaving the monastery to try the dish, thereby forgoing his values.
